Job Offer | No job offer required (self-petition) | U.S. job offer required |
Petition Filed By | Self-petition or employer | Must be filed by U.S. employer/agent |

Strategic Considerations
Many professionals first obtain O-1 status to work in the U.S. while preparing their EB-1A petition. The O-1 provides work authorization and allows time to strengthen the EB-1A case.
Evidence that qualifies for O-1 may not automatically qualify for EB-1A, as EB-1A has a higher standard. However, O-1 approval can be helpful supporting evidence for extraordinary ability.
